Create a custom notification
Building your own message layout and attaching it to the event that should send it.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”Be clear on two separate things:
- What the message should say and look like — that is the template.
- What should cause it to be sent — that is the trigger.
A template on its own sends nothing. This trips people up: they build a beautiful message, save it, and wait for something to happen.
The confirmed way a message gets sent is by a job reaching a particular status. If what you actually want is “send this when a driver has been waiting more than 30 minutes”, read the note at the end of this page before you start building.
- Go to and open .
- Open and create a new template.
- Fill in the template’s settings:
- Template Type and Name — how you will find it again
- Page Size
- Logo
- Header Style, and Information 1 through Information 5 — the header plus five blocks of content, styled individually
- Save the template.
- Attach it to what sends it. Go to and set the template against the status that should send it. The statuses available come from .
- Test with a real job before relying on it. A template that looks right in the editor can still be attached to the wrong status.
The other three tiles
Section titled “The other three tiles”Worth knowing so you edit the right thing:
| Tile | Use it when |
|---|---|
| Custom Templates | You are building your own layout |
| Global Notification Templates | You want to change one of the standard messages rather than make a new one |
| Job Status Notification Templates | You are deciding which message goes with which job status |
| Job Status Notification Types | You are managing the list of statuses that can send a message at all |
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”A template is layout only — attaching it to a trigger is a separate step, in a different tile. Which job statuses can trigger a message, and which standard messages already exist, are both part of your own setup, so check the Job Status Notification Types tile if a status you expect is missing.
If something goes wrong
Section titled “If something goes wrong”Nothing sends. Almost always step 5 — the template exists but is not attached to a status.
The wrong people receive it. Check the notification type rather than the template. Who receives a message is a property of the event, not the layout.

- Open questions
- Whether a custom template can be triggered by a condition such as waiting time passing a threshold. The template screen defines layout only, and the confirmed trigger mechanism is job status. If a waiting-time trigger is wanted, it may not exist in that form — confirm with DFRNT before promising it.
- The Notification Center has not been walked; the tiles and form fields come from the application source.
