Dispatch

Dispatch is the board: the live picture of every job, who is carrying it, and where your drivers are.

The four parts of the screen

The job list, down the middle, is the heart of it. Columns are Date, Time, Speed, Vehicle, Job No, Pickup, Delivery, Courier, Remaining and Status. Above it, counters show Total, Active, Transit and Done, and you can narrow the list to Unassigned, Active, Done or All. There is a search box for finding a specific job.

The detail panel shows the selected job. Until you select one it reads “No Job Selected” — that is expected, not a fault.

Current Work lists your drivers, each with their vehicle, how many jobs they are carrying, and whether they are active. You can show all drivers, only active ones, or just the one you have selected.

Driver Locations and the map show where everyone is, grouped by your delivery zones.

There is also a Tasks panel, which shows either the tasks for the selected job or all tasks.

Booking a job

New jobs are created from the Actions menu, at the top of the screen — DispatchActions menuAdd New Job. The same menu also holds Inter-Courier Charge.

The step-by-step guide for the booking form itself is not written yet.

Assigning work

Each row in the job list has an Assign control, and the driver panel shows who has capacity. The detailed workflow is not documented yet.

Good to know

The columns on the job list depend on the layout in use — layouts are saved and can be switched from the toolbar. The zones under Driver Locations are your delivery zones.

The other screens

Dispatch is more than the board. Its menu also holds Domestic (jobs that travel by flight or through an agent, worked as multi-leg jobs), Job Search, Tasks, Recurring Jobs, Overview and Courier Map. Guides for these are planned; the board above is where day-to-day dispatching happens.

What we have not covered yet

The Add New Job form, Messages, the Date Filter, and most of the menu screens have not been documented yet, and the previous version of the page has not been looked at.
